Perfection is OVERRATED

Perfectionism can be an amazing advantage but it can also be your downfall.

I used to want to be perfect. I used to look at celebrities and hate myself because I didn't look like them, because I wasn't as talented or simply because my life wasn't like theirs.
I'm sure you can guess that I was very miserable. So miserable that it eventually ended up in an eating disorder that I'm still struggling with even today.

I won't go into long details, but I felt compelled to write this blog post as encouragement to anyone out there that might be feeling like they're not good enough. Too often do we pick ourselves apart and over criticize ourselves. Society has set its standards so high that they're pretty much unattainable.

Everyone has flaws. Those flaws are what help to add to our uniqueness. In fact, it's often that what we think our biggest flaw is, may be the thing that someone else really adores about us. That's why embracing them is important. Another important thing to realize is that not everyone's definition and interpretation of perfection is going to be the same. Which makes it even harder to be exactly that; perfect.

I'm not saying that perfection is a bad thing. I just feel like instead of striving to be something that is pretty much impossible, we should strive to the best that we can be. Your most perfect self, if you want. People will probably disagree, but I think that striving for perfection in any aspect is basically setting ourselves up for failure. There are SO many people out there that are damn near to killing themselves to look like a distorted image of a celebrity that we see on TV. Kids getting bullied because they don't have the top name brand clothes or just don't fit into the other children's closed-minded idea of what's "normal".

At the end of the day, no one is perfect because perfection is an illusion. So if you feel like you need to be perfect, do it on your own terms. Be your own version of it. Not what someone else tells you it is. Be who you are. Own your flaws. Flaunt them. Don't apologize for being yourself. And don't ever be ashamed to be you because guess what? There's no one else on the planet that can do it better!

Productive days

Tee : Topshop | Playsuit : Zara | Shoes : Nike Air Force

I'm so happy finally getting things done this summer, and with getting things done I mean bringing an order  ( at least as much of an order as possible for an artist ) into my life!
I also have the time to work on my art and bring things forward.
I started experimenting with pastes just recently, which helps me to create awesome 3D-effects on the canvas. So if you like painting on canvas using acrylics you should definitely try these - I'm using 'CreaPaste'
Moreover I can also focus on my style as in creating a lot of new outfits. With all the fashion, traveling around and art this summer I really get the feeling of being productive in a very creative way which is just one of the best feelings you can have to me. The arts give me the opportunity to kind of fulfill myself.
The look you see above (and below) is one of my latest coordinates. I simply love this playsuit, it's easily combined with any kind of white basics and looks kind of cute.

Here's some more photos of the look that were taken on another day:

As you can see I was doing art that day.
I'm determined to make this a new make-up trend called 'Paint on face'. What do you think? Lol.

Alltogether this is probably one of my favorite outfits this summer :)

What do you like to wear on the hot days of the year?

Vassen Jewel Brown 〜 Circle Lens Review ☆

Helly everyone,
This is my review about Vassen Jewel Brown Circle Lenses ~

With Flash

Here are the Lens Details:

Brand: Vassen
Diameter: 14,5mm
Water Content: 42%
Base Curve: 8,6mm
Replacement: 1 year

Here's what they look like when I put them on:

indoors without flash

Enlargement:
These lenses make my eyes look really big which is enhanced by the darker outer circle.
The golden brown effect looks very pretty too, especially on photos when they are taken with flash.

Comfort:
The lenses are very comfortable but the eyes get quite itchy after wearing them a while so you will be forced to take them off - as well because they dry out quickly. Actually it is a bit disappointing though since Vassen was always known for me for it's comfortable high quality contact lenses.

Overall:
I initially wanted to try these lenses because I wanted to change my eye colour to brown but with a slightly more natural outcome than with the GEO starmish brown & basically I've achieved it with these lenses BUT the hole in the middle is way too big so quite a lot of my natural eye colour is shown which makes it look unfortunately a bit fake looking
(see second photo). Therefore, I wouldn't really recommend to buy these.
I think they are fine if you choose them in your natural eye colour tho.
However, combined with the spacy/trashy make up i've used here, they come out quite nicely - especially if you don't come too close so you won't see the difference in colour.
I've got these lenses from candylens.com

Hope this review was helpful.
(*^_^*)

yup, I got a hair cut..

little update.

Looong time no blog post & I'm very sorry for that!
I have been so busy with school and trips on the weekend
that i simply forgot about this blog for a while.
Haha I have also celebrated my birthday in that time,
the prêt-a-porter chanel fasion show took place and (of course) the Oscars!
In legendary memory, Ellen's selfie, which made it to the most popular photo on twitter and tumblr! ~☆

I don't know why but it makes me smile everytime i look at it.
To the world's suprise the oscar didn't go to Di Cabrio ~ sorry Leo, next time, i'm sure!

There have also been some changes in my life! (^0^)
For example i've got a tattoo on my ankle last weekend and i have no regrets.
It didn't hurt too much but the feeling that describes it probably best is: like a someone is cutting you with a knife. It sounds really bad but you actually get used to it quite quickly and i have already have my next tattoo in planning which is gonna be on the side of my body, the rip area.
I am already looking forward it, but hope i am not gonna become addicted to it haha..
If you think about getting a tattoo, you should think about the place where you want to get it and the meaning it has to you though. it shouldn't be something stupid you want to remove in two years anyway or for example on a very visible place like the hands where everybody can see it so they could get a negative impression of you.
I chose the birds, which i have designed myself by drawing them first so it is pretty unique and then gave the template to the tattoo artist who put it on my skin.
I am super happy with the result and it means a lot to me. for example and that's the most important thing ~the birds symbolize freedom.
If you are not good at drawing there are plenty of books at most studios where you can have a free choice of patterns.
I was also very suprised about the price, which was only 45£!
it is quite cheap i think, especially compared to luxembourg where i, i think, couldn't have got the same tattoo for under 80£
Here are some photos of my visit at the tattoo studio, the result, and my birthday !

finally getting it ~ my very first tattoo

Back 'home'

It's already 2 weeks now since i'm back in the UK and a lot of things happened already.
The school is still the same but on the weekends
me and my friends do lots of exciting and fun stuff.
We go to the cinema quite a lot and also party of course! ^^

I stole this one from my friend..

The weather is really killing me tho..
Can you imagine that since i am back here i think there was only one day without rain?!
it is not even only the fact of rain but the fact of the depressing atmosphere - the grey sky, the cold and wet air, that is making me feel upset.
Some of my friends are getting bad headaches from the weather and others just go totally grumpy,
I guess pretty much everyone has their only negative reaction to the weather.
It is simply so frustrating..

Other than that i have some quite surprising news -
i started watching k-drama (= korean drama series)
I just started watching 'The Heirs' (상속자들 - 왕관을 쓰려는 자, 그 무게를 견뎌라
& love it already.
I think it's because i was kind of influenced by my best friend who's from Hong Kong and constantly watches korean drama when i'm at home. I've missed the voices and the melodies of the korean TV because i've got so used to it during the winter vacation.
But maybe it's also because i simply miss my friend and that is something,
i can assossiate with him - dunno..
The only thing i'm sure about is that i really like it and it makes me feel happy.
It's even interesting - the only thing that's a bit exhausting is reading the subtitles all the time in order to understant what they are saying.
However if you are a fan of korean drama and haven't watched 'The Heirs' yet,
I can highly recommend you to do so..;)

Thank you for reading! :)

Directions Hair Colour

Did you ever have the wish to change your haircolour but only for a short period of time?
Then this is definitely the right hair colour for you since it only lasts for about 2 weeks and you can choose almost every crazy colour you want. (*´ω`*)
it is not expensive as well.
i dyed my hair with it when i was in japan and even though it says 'use on bleached hair' and my hair actually is too dark i am very satisfied with the result.
the colour is just a little darker and not as strong i guess.
these are the colours i've used:

here is the result i got with the lavender - pink dip dye i've used:

(don't really like these two
but at least you can see the effect of the colour without filter)

i just love the dip dye effect (´◡`)

*hope this post was kind of interesting for you *
thanks for reading!

Looking Forward Christmas..

I'm sooooo looking forward this christmas vacation,
you have no idea how exhausted i am from school
since it lasts from august until now without a single break.
It is still very different in comparison to school in luxemburg where we have additional holidays and the autumn vacation.
it just makes it feel like a lot less vacation here in england,
even though i know it is about the same amount of days we get off.
Since there are the second subject assemblies running at the moment
and the teachers have to write our second reports school is quite busy as well.
I just finished a 1000 word essay for TOK about 'knowing through imagination'.
I'm also looking forward going to japan, see my friends again,
and of course going back home! ~\(^o^)/
I have to admit I actually didn't really miss my family awfully much
but i think it will be nice to see them all again anyway
(and my beloved dog of course!)

I spend much free time these days focussing on my school work but as well
listening to music, watching movies and with my friends.
it is actually still unbelievable for me i've already made so many friends
in the short time i'm at EF and i love the fact that they're all international
since it makes it way more interesting~

Here a bunch photos ;3

my new boyfriend.. i call him johnny ;)

last but not least a selfie (of course) (*^^*)♪

if you like the filter i've used on these pictures you should try out the app 'afterlight' - it gives awesome effects and looks to your photos (◕ ‿ - )
