Winter in Grey

Rare picture of me smiling

Of course, following my announcement that there wasn't gonna be one, there had to be another post in these final days of 2016. T_T
Here's to my latest look post:

Beret : & Other Stories | Top : H&M | Jeans : H&M  | Shoes : Vagabond | Coat : H&M Collection
What do you think of the vintage filters I've used on the two photos above?

I hope you've, despite the lack of words, enjoyed this post.

Happy Christmas & a Merry New Year!

Pine scent from the Christmas tree fills the living room I'm sitting in with my macbook on my lap, a cup of chai tea in my hand and a plate of home made christmas biscuits in front of me. ~ Yes, I'm typing with one hand. ~ The Christmas days are just over and I'm the most relaxed I've been in quite a while, hence finally writing this blog post.
But I don't wanna waste this post to bore you talking about all the stuff I've been busy with, instead, I wanna wish you a belated Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year (as I most likely won't post before the 1st of 2017 anymore)!

And coming to speak of the new year, I have so many resolutions:
- to expect less & prepare more
- to judge less & respect more
- to complain less & thank more
- to regret less & smile more
- and of course to travel more :)

What are your new years resolutions?
And did you have any snow for Christmas where you live?

Jupiter's AW16 favourites

Jupiter's AW16 Wishlist

Hey there, already done with your annual winter shopping? No? Then I hope my latest collage might be a little inspiration for you. My personal favourites this AW are oversized wool coats <3 Not only do they keep you warm but they are also the absolute trend this winter (and you are almost certainly gonna look cute in them!) followed by (velvet) chokers & brooches as the accessories of the season. I'm also planning to get myself a nice pair of gloves and ankle boots for the colder days to come ~ warm gloves and scarves are especially essential if you live in an area with cold winds (like me). Make-up-wise it's matte all the way. What I love most about this seasons dominant fashion trends is that they are not only "pretty to look at" but actually also functional so you surely won't freeze this winter! :3

P.S.: I'm sooo sorry for being so inactive those past months! I sincerely hope to find back to my old posting rhythm soon!

New Beginnings!

Wow. I haven't written a blog post in so long, it almost feels exotic to be doing it now.
But this time, I didn't take a break from blogging for no good reason - like I usually do when my only excuse is that I simply lacked the motivation to write a post - no, this time it was because I moved to an entire new country - the Netherlands! The reason? I'm going to be studying at the UvA (University of Amsterdam) starting from next week! And I honestly can't tell you how excited I am to finally be going back to something like a daily routine by doing so. The gap year I took was an amazing experience, but I am almost certain this is going to be one, too!

But this post is not intended to be a story of what's going on in my personal life or of finding yourself,  "lifestyle" would be a better category because, as a proud owner of my very own, cute little place in one of the most vibrant and beautiful cities in the world (duh!), I almost feel obliged to show you what my studio apartment turned out to look like, now that it's all furnished and personalised!

A good 80% of what you're looking at is from IKEA, living very near one, it just came in handy to buy the furniture from them plus I love the DIY character of the Swedish furniture chain.
So that's what I've literally been spending days doing, just getting all the stuff from IKEA and then bringing it home to build it - so much fun but also incredibly tiring!

^ it's a lamp

The most important part is THE BED of course! My holy grail ~~

And looking at these pictures would you believe that it's the inside of a container?
Because it is! Because of the shortage of housing in Amsterdam, the city has come up with this innovative idea to create affordable housing space, especially for students.
I'm actually living on a campus with over 600 students all owning their own container-studio!
I was so amazed with how well isolated the container is, once you close the window you literally hear nothing of what's going on outside, I also love how light and friendly it is, mainly thanks to the big window, the parqueted floor and the white walls. And personally, I think I've made myself a cozy and cute little home :3

What do you think of my apartment in Amsterdam and what do you think of the container idea?

Coordinates: Strawberry Lipsticks featuring Sammydress

Top : Sammydress | Tulle dress : Zara | Hotpants : H&M | Flats : Salvatore Ferragamo | Clutch bag : Sammydress
I'm so happy to finally post my most recent coordinate because it's been a while & I really like this coordinate. It also features my two favourite Sammydress products.
If you've been following my blog for a little longer you might know I'm really into unique looking accessories, especially bags - so I got very excited when I discovered this cute clutch bag in lipstick design on the Sammydress website - I just had to get it! And I SOOOO don't regret it because it is even prettier in real life! In fact, this is probably my favourite clutch bag now and it is certainly an eye-catcher as well :) The only con is that it's a little heavy but that doesn't bother me too much, it's just so cute. Another item in this coordinate I wanna mention are the ballet flats from Salvatore Ferragamo, probably my favourite flats so far - they are very subtle & classy in terms of design so you can easily wear them with a lot of different outfits, they are also really really comfy!
And lastly the top with the special cut is another Sammydress item I really grew to love, mainly because of the interesting irregular & oversized design and since it's black, it's also very easy to match it with many different looks, I love it!

Sometimes I check the Sammydress website and honestly don't find a lot of pretty things but this time I was really lucky, in fact there were so many cute items, so especially if you're still looking for a unique or cute bag, make sure you check out their online shop!

Also, if you have one, where did you find your favourite clutch bag?

K'ryssma lace front wig

I wanna talk about this lace wig I ordered from K'ryssma (via Amazon) lately though.
Since I had never really tried lace wigs before I was a bit uncertain whether or not to order one but after having seen it look absolutely stunning & very natural on a fellow fashion blogger I just had to try it out.

Placing the order
Typical amazon order process. The delivery only took a couple of days, 3 if I remember correctly which had me very positively surprised considering that it wasn't even a prime order.

The product
After having watched a couple of youtube tutorials on how to properly wear lace wigs, I felt comfortable that I could do it so I tried it on. I used some concealer on the parting to get as close to my skin color as possible and I think I did a fairly good job. I love about this wig that it has this blend-in effect from the dark roots to the silver/grey hair. As a natural ginger I was a little skeptical on whether or not I would be able to pull it off well so I'm extremely happy it turned out so natural looking! The hair also seems to be a decent quality & is quite heavy, this might be a con or pro depending on your personal preferences, but for me it was certainly a pro because it feels basically like human hair.

Comfort
I really like that the wig fits so well & tightly, it didn't even slightly shift over the 2 hours that I wore it which was another positive surprise for me as I also made some different experiences with other 'regular' wigs, despite the adjustment straps.

Overall
I love this wig, the only thing that might not be overly ideal is that I've found that, despite the hair of the wig being pretty straight, it tangles up easily, but then again this is very typical with all long hair wigs. Overall, however, the value for money ratio is really great, especially if you, like me, haven't tried any lace front wigs before and hence don't wanna spend a fortune on it right away. If you like experimenting & wearing wigs I definitely recommend Kryssma's lace wigs!

Have you tried wearing front lace wigs before?

July synopsis

This month has been such a blur for me, especially the past two weeks as I've been recovering from the minor removal surgery of my last wisdom tooth which took frustratingly long since my wound got infected. I am now officially convinced that wisdom teeth, excuse my language, are nasty little bitches with absolutely no purpose other than hurting like hell once they've been removed, so if you've been a lucky fellow who didn't need to get them removed you better appreciate it!

(Review post for this wig coming very soon))

For some reason I also just experienced a basically overwhelming lack of motivation for anything and everything, so that might be part of the reason why there wasn't a lot of activity on this blog from my site recently..

To be fair, though, this ordeal didn't only have it's negatives - having spent the least weeks in a more or less numb state (thanks to ibuprofen) greatly resembling a hamster I took the chance to finish a book I had started reading and never finished ages ago and experimenting with recipes for iced beverages a little.

Making full use of all that free time I also discovered a TV show called "Lucifer" that I immediately grew to love after having watched the first episode only, so if you're looking for shows to watch, make sure you check this one out!

If you like Supernatural &/or the crime genre, chances are you'll love this show!

Have you made any unpleasant experiences with your wisdom teeth or were you lucky enough to be able to keep them?

Let me know in the comments below :)

Coordinate : All White

Choker : Lamoda | Dress : Dezzal | Bracelet : Swarovski | Sandals : Lamoda
This coordinate features a beautiful wrap-style dress from Dezzal, remember when I reviewed their website a few weeks ago? Well, they actually sent me this beautiful dress for review! I paired it with my Lamoda choker, my beloved Swarovski bracelet & platform sandals also from Lamoda for this look. I'm really glad the pictures came out so well, despite the dress being a little tight on me, so if you're planning to order from them I recommend sizing up, though this might highly vary from brand to brand that they offer on their website. I really like the design with the overlay & wrap details but I would have preferred the material to be a little..thicker and stretchier, just because comfort :P But then I should probably just lose some weight ^^;
In case you're having trouble identifying those hieroglyphs aka my handwriting, this was supposed to say "Stubborn with a good heart"

Anyways, I'm happy to say I'm overall very pleased with the service and my shopping experience with Dezzal. A big bonus was also the speedy shipping as my package literally arrived with me within about a week!
Would I order from them again? Absolutely, but I'd pay more attention to the sizing and materials used next time as I tend to value this a lot, especially when the clothing is generally a little pricier. :)

Have you ordered from Dezzal before?

Coordinate : Run Boy Run + Pokémon Go release!

Hoodie : Pull & Bear | Skirt : Zara | Phone Case : Snupped | Choker : Lamoda
It started with a Jacket from Antonio Berardi, my love for neoprene outerwear, and is now being continued with this lovely oversized hoodie from Pull & Bear! There's just something about neoprene that makes it so perfect for almost any temperature within the mild climate range. I bought this hoodie while I was on my transit in Shanghai this winter, traveling back home from summerly Australia and hence, big surprise, absolutely underdressed and it literally saved my life - which is me totally exaggerating the possibility of a flu.
Anyways, it kept me warm then & now in the warmer climate, keeps me cool. I can't quite explain the science behind this, but lastly divers use it for this reason, too.
Please excuse my grumpy facial expressions in those shots btw!

And now onto something that seriously had me excited this week..

The Pokémon Go release

Omg guys, the time has finally come! Since July 7th, Pokémon Go is available on the app stores in the US, Australia & New Zealand and a release for Europe is apparently planned by the end of this week! As a person who grew up with the Pokémon games for Gameboy, Gamecube & Nintendo DS, you can go figure how excited I am about this game!

For those of you who haven't heard of Pokémon Go so far, here's a little trailer of what it's all about:

For more info you can also view their website here.

So seriously, how could anyone who played Pokemon growing up not be excited about this?! This game is so big, in fact, it's almost like my childhood dreams come true and the best thing about it? It's free to download!
Since the European version of it isn't officially available on the app stores yet, but the makers are rumoured to having announced that it would be released by the end of this week, you can be assured that I'll be checking the iPhone app store 5x or even more every day from now on until it's finally on there, haha - not talking about obsessions..

Will you be / are you playing Pokémon Go?
What do you think of it?

Coordinate : Bad Intentions featuring Snupped

Choker : Lamoda | Bracelet : Swarovski | Top : H&M | Skirt : Chloé | Sandals : Lamoda | Phone Case : Snupped

Finally a new coordinate post on here! I was actually going for a pinkish, minimal style here but thanks to the grungy location it turned out looking kinda grungy overall. Oh well, my favourite item in this coordinate is probably the skirt I got form Chloé, it's a nice a-line cut with pockets in the front so you can actually store smaller items there - absolutely perfect for a night out so you can conveniently leave your bag and jacket at the cloakroom of the club/bar without feeling so naked.
You can see the actual cut and design of the skirt in the picture below:

The beautiful phone case featured in this look is from Snupped, a tech-accessory online shop which lets you design your own cases, pouches & laptop sleeves. How cool is that?!
So when I had the choice, since I just recently got the iPhone6s, I decided to get a classic phone case & picked one of the design patterns from Snupped since I didn't at the time have any pretty photos of my paintings or something else personal that I could have used.
Anyways, the case was with me very quickly & I must say I totally love it! The geometrical, minimal design is so innovative & exactly my taste!

What is your favourite, most recent fashion item?

Britain : Let's talk about the Exit

I know, I know! – this is mainly a fashion-blog so I shouldn't abuse it to discuss economics and geopolitics, but in light of the recent events and my personal stance on them, simply ignoring them just didn't feel like the right thing to do...so let's talk about it!

As most of you might have heard by now the UK voted to LEAVE in the Brexit this Thursday. Now obviously for all non-UK residents the results of this referendum aren't of such crucial importance but as a person who spent 2 years living and studying in the UK, I personally did follow the entire campaign and, just like the Britains, felt especially tense before the results were published this morning. Even if the extent may not be all that severe, there's no doubt that the impact of this will be global – while the peace and order the EU era has achieved in Europe have been broadly good on an international spectrum, it's only a logical conclusion that any turmoil here is a cause for global worry.

Now let's take a look at the voting stats:

Why I don't think letting elderly people decide about the future of a country is a good idea:

As the voting stats show the older the person, the more likely they were to vote for Leave. I think one reason for that is because older people in general, tend to be more conservative and patriotic so they are all for independence of their country. However, this can be a massive drawback for their children who will actually have to deal with the consequences of their decision in the future. As you can see, 64% of young britains voted to remain a member of the EU. Maybe not only because they can see the economic and political benefits but also because their careers might severely depend on this.
I might sound incredibly ignorant here, but I feel like anyone over 65 years of age shouldn't be given a say in decisions of such an impact on the future of a country, a future that they themselves won't have to deal with anymore but a future whose burdens their children will have to carry.

But what exactly are the consequences of this result?

Consequences for the UK:

  • For the UK, the first backlash will have been the significant drop in the pound and their stock market. In fact that is an understatement; the pound is at a century low and still plummeting.
  • Another piece of news was that David Cammeron decided to resign from his job by October '16. By doing so, he might give way for the right-winged Boris Johnson.
  • For their import-export-businesses with EU countries, the UK might have to start paying tax, in that case, there will be a significant loss in revenue.
  • Many businesses relying on the EU will have to shut down meaning that people working for those companies will lose their jobs.
  • London will lose it's importance as a financial centre.
  • How about tourism? The EU membership made it possible for EU citizens to visit and reside in the UK without having to bring a passport each time they travelled - a simple ID card was enough. That might no longer be possible so there may be a not insignificant drop in the profit made from tourism.

If you google it now, it already dropped down to $1.37

Consequences for the EU:

  • With the UK, the EU obviously lost one of it's most important members and contributors so there's going to be an estimated drop of 3% in the EU economy.
  • As London is no longer an option, the EU will have to find a new centre point for their financial trades.
  • Travelling to the UK will become more complicated for EU residence and most likely require more paperwork in the future.
  • After the UK left, there may be more overall scepticism of the European Union among the other member countries and more might leave in the future.

By looking at the short term consequences, the part that lost most due to the Brexit is certainly Britain. If they, however, will eventually recover from the great drop in their economy and the geopolitical turmoil the referendum caused is a question of time but I sincerely hope that they will and if it doesn't happen to work out for their favour in the long run either, I hope that this decision will at least have been a lesson and determining for their future decisions.

I hope I could break the significance of this event down for you a little in this post.
I'm curious to hear your input on the matter as well!

What do you think about the Brexit come true?

Wardrobe Essentials For Your Travels

Way too often, you can immediately distinguish tourists from natives solely by how they are dressed - and usually the natives win the fashion game by lightyears. In the name of traveling, I've created a collage of my personal wardrobe essentials that make dressing stylishly way easier when traveling.
I always makes sure these things are in my luggage case before I leave home:

  • Sunglasses: Obviously this is most important when traveling in summer. I have this one pair of sunglasses that suits me like it was made for me - a nightmare if I'd ever happen to forget it.
  • Bumper: When traveling the phone tends to be out far more often because we take photos of this, photos of that and of course post those photos and our experiences in the foreign country on social media. The downside, however, the more often our phone is out in our hands the more likely we are to drop it and break the precious screen. Hence, bumpers are a good idea.
  • Your favourite sweater: I NEVER travel without my favourite sweater & it NEVER not comes to use. Perfect when the urge comes up to roam the streets of Rome or Seoul on those summer nights that suddenly get cool after sunset.
  • Ballet flats: You never know what opportunities come up - or who you meet. When needing to look fancy, ballet flats are the comfortable alternative to high heels. They are also lighter and take up much less space in your suitcase!
  • High-waisted denim shorts: These are sooo convenient for traveling around – comfy and stylish. I found my favourite pair in a thrift shop so from my experience that's a pretty good place to find high quality and authentic vintage jeans shorts for a good bargain!
  • Backpack: Nothing over a good backpack when you're on a city tour through Sydney or exploring the Canadian wilderness. You can fit all the useful things, such as sunscreen, water bottles & food inside & carry it comfortably.
  • Watch: Watches are always a good idea, not only when abroad, and once you're used to wearing them you won't leave to foreign destinations without one.
  • Cardholder: I find this very useful, especially when I'm in places that don't use the currency they do in my home country, I prefer to pay with card. It's also good if you wanna save space in your bag or are afraid of your bag being stolen by street thieves because you can easily carry it on your body.
  • Windbreaker: You can hardly ever tell for certain how the weather will be so windbreakers or just waterproof jackets in general are always a good idea to bring!
  • Umbrella: ... Just like umbrellas! I personally like to always have a small foldable umbrella in my suitcase, just in case.
  • Sneakers: A pair of comfy sneakers is pretty mandatory if you wanna avoid blisters and looking like an obvious tourist!
  • Your favourite tee: On my most recent travels, my beloved turtleneck tee has never left my side and judging by how much it came to use it was the right decision. I also love having a simple oversized white t-shirt with me when I'm away from home.
  • The little black dress: Just like with the ballet flats, you should prepare to look formal/preppy (just in case) so the classic little black dress is your best friend!
  • The small satchel bag: This my personal MUST-BRING-bag when traveling. It doesn't fit as many things as a backpack but is, because of it's size, very convenient to carry all day. When getting one, always make sure the strap is long enough so you can wear it cross body!
What are your personal wardrobe essentials for traveling?

xx ♡ Micky

P.S.: all items featured in this collage more or less just serve an example purpose.

Review : Skin Food Egg White Mask

Looking for a replacement for my beloved mask by Neutrogena I recently ordered this pore mask from Skin Food. Mainly because the fact that it's relying on egg white and its albumin as an active agent really intrigued me. Because I had previously made positive experiences with Skin Food, my expectations were high and I was very happy when the package from Korea finally arrived with me.

Application:
The mask is on a clay base and applies very easy and smoothly onto the skin.
Once a thin layer is applied you leave it on to dry for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off with luke warm water. Like all clay masks, it's pretty easy to remove.

The mask smells wonderfully and didn't feel uncomfortable or irritating on my skin at all, which was a great relief because my skin is very sensitive in this regard and I often end up having allergic reactions to new products so I was extremely glad this wasn't the case with this mask!

Results: ♥♥♥♥♥
After washing off the mask, my skin was visibly clearer and felt incredibly soft.
Even my pores were much cleaner and even seemed smaller, so this mask definitely keeps what it promises!

I'm glad I can wholeheartedly recommend this mask to everyone who's looking to try a new deep cleansing and relaxing mask!

Have you tried Skin Food's products before? If so, what are your favourites?
